Moldovan premier congratulates military on National Army Day

Chisinau, 3 September /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet today laid flowers at the monument to Stefan cel Mare, on the occasion of the 24th anniversary of the National Army of Moldova. Attending the event were Defence Minister Anatol Salaru, active and reserve military of the National Army, military attaches accredited in Chisinau, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
On this occasion, the prime minister conveyed a congratulatory message:
"Gentlemen - generals, officers, non-commissioned officers, sergeants and soldiers,
Dear veterans and retired military,
On the occasion of the 24th anniversary of the establishment of the National Army, I congratulate the entire combat and civilian personnel, as well as their families, and I convey them good wishes.
The national military institution has proved, in more than two decades of its existence, that it is a force capable of carrying out its tasks and represents the guarantor of constitutional democracy.
Presently, the National Army is going through a period of reform in order to become a modern, European army, able to be inter-operable with other armies of the world. To achieve this objective, the government counts on the qualities of the Moldovan servicemen - professionalism and true patriotism.
On my own behalf and on behalf of the citizens of Moldova, I want to thank you for the excellent work you showed within exercises and missions under international mandate. Thanks to you, at present, our state is a viable and reliable partner for foreign countries, a guarantor of stability and security in the region.
I trust that you will continue to do your job with devotion and perseverance for the prosperity and welfare of Moldova.
On the National Army Day, I wish all effective forces of the country and from abroad health, prosperity, achievements and success in the noble mission of defending the Motherland!”
