Moldovan premier meets Bulgarian president in New York

Chisinau, 29 September /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet today had a bilateral meeting with Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev, in the context of the 70th Session of the United Nations General Assembly due in New York, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
The officials approached the Moldovan-Bulgarian cooperation and assessed the prospects of this partnership for the years to come. The sides also broached Moldova's European path. Strelet thanked Bulgaria for backing the European agenda of Moldova. On the other hand, Rosen Plevneliev voiced willingness to support the European integration of Moldova. The officials also welcomed the opening of an European information centre in Taraclia with the support of Bulgarian authorities, and described it as a significant communication link as to European integration with Moldovans.
The sides also addressed the Bulgarian community in Moldova who, according to the latest data, includes over 65,000 people. Strelet highlighted that the Moldovan authorities treated with responsibility the needs of Bulgarian minority as to keep and develop its own national identity. An example in this respect is the joint intent to create, based on the Grigorii Tamblac State University in Taraclia, an international regional university teaching in the Bulgarian and Romanian languages.
The officials exchanged views about promotion of reforms and priority goals as to stabilise situation in the financial and banking area. „You have the chance to make history,” Plevneliev said.
The sides also tackled the economic and investment cooperation between Moldova and Bulgaria. Both officials spoke out for increasing the import, export quotas and trade exchanges between the two states.
Plevneliev underlined that he would pay a visit to Moldova soon.
