Moldovan deputy premier attends high-level meeting in New York

Chisinau, 1 October /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman participated in a high-level meeting on Eastern Europe's future and fortification of woman's role in the context of the 70th meeting of the UN General Assembly in New York, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry's communication and media relations service has reported.
The event brought together high officials, such as: Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaité, Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, U.S. former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, foreign ministers, lawmakers from Armenia and Ukraine and members of civil society. They discussed women's role in settling conflicts and their participation in political and economic life.
Gherman approached Moldova's actions in ensuring gender equality, reiterating the Moldovan government's continuous commitment to develop an inclusive society, in which all citizens would have equal rights.
Gherman participated in the first meeting of informal network of foreign ministers women, organised following an initiative by Foreign Ministry of Sweden and Liechtenstein, which brought together women from 12 states from Europe, Latin America and Africa. The talks were focused on up-to-date issues, such as: sustainable development, access to education and health system for women from different countries, gender-based violence, economic and demographic effects of migration processes, as well as coordination of ways for their approach within different UN organisations.
