Office for Diaspora Relations requests citizens' opinion on draft Strategy "Diaspora-2025"

Chisinau, 6 October /MOLDPRES/- Citizens of Moldova and from abroad are invited to come up with suggestions and proposals on a draft National Strategy "Diaspora-2025", worked out by the Office for Diaspora Relations (BRD) of State Chancellery and published on the government platform: www.particip.gov.md, the BRD has reported.
The Diaspora 2025 strategy aims at developing the sustainable and comprehensive framework on cooperation between the state institutions and diaspora, based on confidence, initiatives and common programmes.
The document reflects the Moldovan government's commitment to develop and deepen the relations with citizens from abroad, and defines the important actions in diaspora, migration and development meant to consolidate the progress got in relations with diaspora members.
BRD head Valeriu Turea said that the strategy was a defining element which would be the basis for policies of authorities in relation to diaspora for the next ten years. For this reason, the document must have an obvious content, express demands on the matter more exactly and ensure a more efficient enforcement of the set goals". In this context, the citizens are urged to read the project critically and constructively and to make suggestions and proposals, which would make any improvements in the document's text.
The need for a strategy on diaspora arouse from requests by Moldovan citizens from abroad, as well as from a desire to create mechanisms through which diaspora could contribute to the country's development. The strategy comprises concrete actions meant to consolidate Moldovan diaspora by launching programmes for extending associations networks and creating thematic connection points, according to interests of citizens from abroad.
The strategy's actions are balanced and achievable, and can contribute to increasing cooperation between government, central and local public authorities, civil society from the country and diaspora by strengthening and extending integrated approach of policies on diaspora, migration and development. The actions derive from the following goals: elaboration and development of strategic and operational framework in diaspora, migration and development, ensuring diaspora rights and building confidence, mobilisation, turning to good accounts and recognizing human potential of the diaspora, direct and indirect involvement in Moldova's sustainable economic development.
