Chisinau, 28 October /MOLDPRES/- The government today approved a draft law providing for a three-per-cent increase in teachers’ salaries. The draft is to be adopted by the parliament. The increase will be applied retroactively and will come into force starting with 1 September 2015.
Thus, teachers’ salaries will be adjusted to the average salary the government has forecast for 2015. According to the National Statistics Bureau, the average monthly salary of Moldovan school teachers stood at 4,366.3 lei in the fourth quarter of 2014.
The current legislation states that teachers’ salaries must be re-examined on an annual basis, starting from 1 September, depending on the ratio between the raise in the estimated average salary in the national economy for the ongoing year and the teachers’ average monthly salary registered in the fourth quarter of the previous year.
An estimated monthly amount of 10 million lei or sum of 30 million for 2015, is needed to implement the draft this year. The funds are going to be identified and introduced into the state budget for 2015.
