Moldovan disabled people to receive single allowance for all transportation expenses

15:58 | 28.10.2015 Category: Official

Chisinau, 28 October /MOLDPRES/- The cabinet today amended and supplemented the law on social inclusion of disabled people, in order to simplify the procedures for the payment of transportation compensations, as well as to adjust it to the provisions of the Customs Code, Fiscal Code and the law on customs tariff, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

The amendments provide for merging the compensation for urban, suburban and interurban public transportation expenses and the annual compensation for one-way travel expenses into a single compensation. However, this does not mean that there will be less beneficiaries or less compensated money, as allowances will be merged into a single payment and will be paid once a year. The current amendments will help decrease administrative expenses and will simplify the procedures for the establishment and payment of the benefits.

Presently, the compensation for urban, suburban and interurban public transportation travel expenses in all Moldova’s territorial and administrative units, excepting Balti and Chisinau municipalities, reaches 46 lei per month for people with severe disabilities and children with special needs (including their caregivers), and 23 lei per month for people with accentuated disabilities. The annual compensation for the cost of transport services stands at 800 lei. Thus, following the unification of the above-mentioned compensations, beneficiaries will receive a single allowance every year, comprising 12 monthly payments and the annual compensation. The total budget designed for the payment of compensations in 2015 reaches 78,126 lei.
