Moldova goes up 11 positions in global business ranking

Chisinau, 28 October /MOLDPRES/- Moldova has gone up 11 positions on the World Bank Group's global business top, ranking 52 among 189 countries evaluated, following its last-year similarly impressive evolution, according to the Doing Business 2016 report

In the World Bank’s ranking, Moldova comes right after Russia and Peru, getting ahead of countries like Israel, Columbia, Turkey. Estonia ranks 16, holding the best position among ex-soviet countries, followed by Lithuania (20), Latvia (22), Georgia (24), Armenia (35) and Kazakhstan (41). Romania ranks 37 and Ukraine is placed on the 83rd position.

Moldova got the best ranking, 21st position, in the field of property registration and business start-up, ranking 26 respectively. However, the country keeps getting the lowest results for the issuance of building permits, ranking 170.  

The new report ascertains that Moldova has simplified the procedures for business registration over the last year and improved the situation in the insolvency management sector.

Moldova implemented 26 reforms to improve the business environment in 2005-2015, while the percentage of accumulated points rose from 54.5 in 2005 to 66.6 in 2014, and 70.97 in 2015, out of a maximum amount of 100 points, according to the last report.   

The Doing Business report, elaborated by the World Bank Group, provides analyses of business regulations for economies, including business start-ups, obtaining loans, trans-border trade, tax payment, as well as insolvency. The aggregate ranking of the business environment is based on the results in 11 fields and includes 189 countries.
