12:06 | 29.10.2015 Category: Political

Chisinau, 29 October /MOLDPRES/- The parliament today considers a censure motion against the Strelet government. Prime Minister presented a report on cabinet’s activity in the parliament's plenum.

Strelet said that, during the first 90 days of the present cabinet's work,  the Moldovan economy had been influenced negatively by a string of external and internal factors, including the crisis in the financial and banking sector. “Nevertheless, the wages have slightly increased, but pensions decreased. The GDP rose by 3.6 per cent against the first three months of 2014. The inflation rate stood at 9.5 per cent in last September," he said.

Strelet noted that the national currency had lately depreciated by 28 per cent against the US dollar and by 16 per cent against the euro, which led to an increase in prices and tariffs. The premier said that another sector, on which the government focused, had been stabilization of the financial and banking sector and liquidation of the three banks, which was a precondition for IMF Mission's coming to Moldova.

According to the premier, the government held 12 plenary meetings and considered over 200 drafts, and about 30 ones have been submitted to parliament. Strelet rejected the accusations by the Party of Socialists (PSRM) and Party of Communists (PCRM), as well as insinuations of colleagues from the Alliance for European Integration (AIE), saying he would have turned into a defender of the former leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM ), Vlad Filat. “I believe that my actions are absolutely legal," he concluded.

Last week, 42 PCRM and PSRM MPs submitted a censure motion against the government, invoking suspicions of corruption hovering over Strelet and cabinet members.
