EU to implement five 2.5-million-euro-worth projects in Moldova

Chisinau, 29 October /MOLDPRES/- EU officials and representatives of the Council of Europe in Chisinau today unveiled five projects designed to align Moldova to European standards in the human rights, democracy and law supremacy fields. The 2.5-million-euro-worth projects will be implemented in Moldova during the next two years.

EU will grant Moldova about 1.9 million euros to this end, and the Council of Europe will make a 0.6-million-euro contribution and will be in charge of the projects’ implementation.

The projects, carried out within the Programmatic Cooperation Framework, will aim to improve electoral processes in Moldova, fight and prevent discrimination, consolidate human rights observance in the implementation of the Digital Agenda, strengthen the judiciary system and back the Moldovan Union of Lawyers.  

Beneficiaries of the projects will be the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM), judges and the judiciary stuff from all over Moldova, electoral candidates, Central Electoral Commission (CEC), parliament, government, political parties, lawyers, academic and technical community, as well as the civil society and ordinary people.

Moldova is also part of 14 regional projects along with several other Eastern Partnership states.
