Turkish embassy in Moldova organises charity action for autism association

Chisinau, 30 October /MOLDPRES/- On the occasion of the 92nd anniversary of the foundation of Turkey, the Turkish embassy in Moldova organised a reception, as well as a charity action for SOS Autism public association on 29 October.

The participants in the event had possibility to buy a calendar published by the Turkish embassy in 500 copies.

In his speech, Turkish Ambassador to Moldova Mehmet Selim Kartal said that "Turkey was founded as a result of a war of independence, won by huge losses". The diplomat announced a minute of silence, "to gratefully remember Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and all our martyrs whom we owe the Republic".

Sources in the Turkish embassy told that about 33,000 lei was to be donated to the SOS Autism public association.

Association deputy head Anastasia Para thanked the embassy for generosity.

The SOS Autism public association is an apolitical and non governmental organisation, meant to protect children with autism syndrome and their families. It was set up a group of parents having children with autism in May 2008. As many as 157 people suffering from autism, among whom 144 children, are registered with doctors in Moldova.
