Chisinau, 30 October /MOLDPRES/-The Superior Council of Magistracy and Justice Ministry, in partnership with the USAID Rule of Law Institutional Strengthening Programme (ROLISP) today unveiled the second report on assessing Moldovan courts.
The report includes the results of assessment, in 2012-2015, of six sectors within the courts, such as: infrastructure, automation, activity, human resources, punisher service, as well as budget and concerns of courts.
The chairman of the Superior Council of Magistracy, Victor Micu, said that, starting from 2012, important changes had been registered in the judiciary sector. “The courts provide more qualitative services, have a higher level of automation and registration of meetings, and they have become more efficient”, he said.
At the same time, Micu said that “authorities have to further focus on the sectors in which the reforms have not been carried out fully, such as the public relations field”.
Attending the event, Justice Minister Vladimir Cebotari said that “justice in Moldova has not yet reached the level in which citizens can have full confidence in the judiciary system; therefore, reforms are welcome to further develop this sector”.
USAID Moldova interim director Stephanie Chetraru said that “the sectors set in the report registered progress; thus, the files are randomly distributed in all the 49 Moldovan courts, and the human factor intervention is getting smaller. Due to the implementation of this automated system for distributing files, transparency will be enhanced and confidence of citizens in courts will improve”.
The first report on assessing Moldovan courts was launched in 2012.
