Moldova donates 550 kg of blood components to help Romanian fire victims

Chisinau, 2 November /MOLDPRES/- Moldova donated about 550 kilograms of blood components to the Romanian Health Ministry to help it ensure the treatment of the victims of the tragic fire at Bucharest-based Colectiv night club.
According to the Health Ministry’s press service, the Moldovan government took this decision, following talks held with Romanian authorities. In this respect, authorities in charge assessed the availability of Moldovan medical blood reserves, and thus, ruled to donate blood components amounting to 1.705 million lei.
Starting with 1 November, the National Blood Transfusion Centre is open for people who want to donate blood for Romanian fire victims. In this context, the Health Ministry calls on all the citizens to take attitude and help Bucharest club fire victims, by donating blood.
The press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service, Liliana Puscasu, said “the 550 kg of blood and other blood components donated for the Romanian fire victims had been transported by two special vehicles, one of them belonging to the Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service and the other one to the Health Ministry. The vehicles headed towards Bucharest on 1 November evening”.
The batch of aid reached the destination early on 2 November, and will be used to help hospitalised victims, wounded in a fire in Bucharest-based Colectiv night club, on 30 October 2015. The fire killed 30 people and another 200 were injured.
