Moldovan acting foreign minister meets U.S. official

Chisinau, 3 November /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, acting Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman today met Coordinator for U.S. Assistance to Europe and Eurasia Alina Romanowski, on a working visit to Moldova, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry's information and media communication service has reported.
The officials exchanged opinions on the bilateral relations and projects implemented in Moldova with the support of the USA.
"The USA is a strategic partner for Moldova. It is important that we deepen the bilateral cooperation and further benefit from American assistance in such sectors as justice reform, fighting corruption, attracting investments, development of energy infrastructure, roads' reconstruction, modernisation of the agro-food industry, development of the private sector, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises," said the head of the Moldovan diplomacy. The official also expressed Moldova's interest to continue the Compact programme, as well as to extend it in the energy field, stressing that the diversification of energy sources was a strategic priority of the Moldovan authorities.
For her part, Alina Romanowski reiterated the importance to press ahead with reforms in Moldova and ensure the supremacy of law. The U.S. official also said that the USA relied on a strong partnership with Moldova and gave assurances about the continuation of enforcing assistance programmes meant for Moldova.
The sides also highlighted the importance that Moldova continues its European integration.
