Chisinau, 6 November /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu is on a working visit to Latvia on 6-8 November, to participate in a string of events organised on the occasion of the Riga annual conference, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
Candu will take part in the annual conference of regional and international experts in foreign policy. The participants in the event will discuss both the progress and challenges faced by Moldova in the European integration.
On visit, the speaker will also have a meeting with Latvian Parliament Speaker Inara Murniece. Attending the meeting will be the head of the foreign policy commission and European affairs commission, Ojars Eriks Kalnins and, respectively, Lolita Cigane.
The parliament speaker will also hold talks with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Bridget Brink.
The main subjects tackled at the meetings of the Riga annual conference are focused on issues of ensuring international security and stability, as well as enhancing the importance of geoeconomics for the state's economic prosperity.
The Riga annual conference is a forum of reference in the foreign and security policy of Northern Europe, after Latvia hosted the NATO Summit in 2006.
