Moldovan acting foreign minister chairs meeting of national committee on fighting trafficking in human beings

Chisinau, 9 November /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, acting Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman today chaired a meeting of the national committee on fighting the trafficking in human beings, as chairwoman of the committee, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry's (MAEIE) information and media communication press service has reported.
In the opening of the meeting, Natalia Gherman referred to the present stage of Moldova's assessment by GRETA (Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings) rapporteurs for implementing the Council of Europe's Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings. She said that the tenth anniversary of the Convention's signing was marked in 2015.
Also, the Moldovan acting foreign minister reiterated that, over the last months. the anti-trafficking community had organised a string of training courses and workshops for the central and local public administration, in order to quickly identify the victims and potential casualties of the trafficking in human beings, with special attention paid to challenges in preventing and combating the trafficking of children.
At the same time, a representatives of the United States embassy in Chisinau unveiled recommendations for Moldova, according to the report on the trafficking in persons of the U.S. Department of State, carried out in 2015.
At the meeting, the acting labour, social protection and family minister presented the developments concerning the mechanisms of enforcing the strategy of the national system of reference for unconditional providing of specialised services of assistance to victims and monitoring of cases of post assistance/reintegration. Also, the institutions in charge unveiled information on actions undertaken to prevent the re-victimization and social integration of casualties of the trafficking in human beings, as well as reorganisation of territorial commissions for fighting the trafficking in human beings following the local polls. Traditionally, attending the event were also representatives of the civil society, who came up with proposals on combating the trafficking in children.
