Chisinau, 11 November /MOLDPRES/-Acting Prime Minister Gheorghe Brega on 10 November paid an unannounced visit to the Agency of Medicines and Medical Devices (AMDM) to assess its work conditions and technical capacities of its Laboratory for Medicine Quality Control (LCCM), the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The prime minister inspected the condition of LCCM’s equipment and familiarized with storage and testing methods of pharmaceutical substances and medical devices.
According to AMDM head Vladislav Zara, the LCCM was rebuilt and endowed with necessary equipment over the last two years. Therefore, more than 50 million lei had been allotted to adjust the institution to modern requirements and standards.
Brega praised LCCM’s good storage conditions and current equipment, adding that it could be offered the opportunity to pass an EU-level examination to get accreditation from international organizations in this field.
In 2012, Gheorghe Brega, a MP at that time, headed a commission in charge of investigating the situation on Moldova’s pharmaceutical market. Back then, Brega had ordered that experts carry out an assessment of LCCM’s capacities, and also upgrade and align it to EU standards.
The acting prime minister added that the government would further pay high attention to the safety and quality of medicines in Moldova.
