Moldovan acting deputy premier, World Bank experts broach cooperation

Chisinau, 12 November /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Deputy Prime Minister Victor Osipov today had a meeting with a group of World Bank experts, led by team leader Stavros George Stavrou, the bureau fort reintegration has reported. 

The dialogue was focused on subjects concerning the pace of implementation of the World Bank's programme for Moldova, Support for Knowledge in Promoting Confidence, launched two years ago. The main goals of the World Bank in Moldova are fighting poverty and ensuring the well-being for all citizens, and this regards the residents from the two banks of Dniester. In this context, the sides emphasised the importance of the cooperation and dialogue between the Moldovan authorities and the Transnistrian bodies.

In particular, the interlocutors referred to a training workshop held in Chisinau on these days, with joint participation of representatives of state institutions, academic environment and civil society of Moldova, as well as from the country's eastern districts. The training is focused on concrete fields, such as public acquisitions, public-private partnership and working out project proposals.

The World Bank experts' team leader, Stavros George Stavrou, reiterated donors' willingness to extend the assistance projects, underway in Moldova, to the Transnistrian region. As for concrete sectors, the team leader highlighted transport and road infrastructure, quality medical services, environmental protection, tourism and rural development, etc.

At the end of the meeting, Victor osipov thanked the World Bank for involvement and support provided to Moldova in diverse areas. He confirmed willingness to develop this cooperation also to settle problems faced by the residents from the Transnistrian region.
