More Moldovan settlements face power outages due to strong wind

Chisinau, 16 November /MOLDPRES/-The strong wind left more than 70 settlements from ten Moldovan districts without electricity today.
The press officer of the Interior Ministry’s Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service (SPCSE), Diana Turcanu, said “districts hurt the most by the wind are Criuleni, Straseni, Orhei, Telenesti, Hincesti, Cimislia, Calarasi, Cantemir, Leova and Stefan-Voda”, adding that intervention teams of electricity providers started works to re-connect settlements to power.
For her part, the head of Chisinau mayoralty’s association in charge of managing green areas (Spatii Verzi), Galina Leahu, said “the wind broke about 40 trees in Chisinau, while more massive tree branches fell on cars and electricity wires”.
According to Leahu, “damages inflicted to car owners are to be borne by insurance companies”.
The State Hydro-meteorological Service issued yellow code of strong wind of up to 15-20 m/s, throughout the entire country for today.
