Top European official says EU expects deblocking of situation by Moldovan political class

Chisinau, 18 November /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu had a meeting with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini in Brussels on 17 November, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
The officials discussed the domestic developments in Moldova, crisis in the financial and banking sector, progress made and challenges after one year of enforcement of the Association Agreement, including the Free Trade accord.
Andrian Candu said the priority of the Moldovan political class was to as quickly as possibly create a stable parliamentary majority, that will swear in the government and resume the discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
At the same time, the speaker said that the European integration currently was already dealing with the domestic policy and not the foreign one. Candu stressed that the punctual implementation of the Free Trade Agreement and resumption of the talks with IMF must be among the immediate priorities of the new parliamentary coalition, implicitly of the government.
For her part, Federica Mogherini said the European Union stayed committed to Moldova and was expecting sustainable solutions. "We observe Moldova's domestic policy and expect the deblocking of the situation by the Chisinau political class," the EU official said.
Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu ended his two-day official visit to Brussels on 17 November.
