Chisinau, 18 November /MOLDPRES/- The acting cabinet today approved a decision on the closure of the boarding school from Visoca village, Soroca district.
Acting Education Minister Corina Fusu said “the institution is currently operating at a minimum capacity of 180 available seats; however, only 41 of them are occupied. At the same time, the financial analysis showed that pupils’ maintenance costs are rather high and have been continuously increasing over the past years”.
A number of 47 people are currently attending the boarding school in Visoca, the teaching staff accounting for 17 of them. On average, each employee is responsible of one or two pupils, which means that the amount of teachers and auxiliary employees is almost equal to the number of pupils hosted by the boarding school.
After the liquidation of the institution, authorities will apply individual assistance plans, and will return children to their families, place them into alternative families, and also integrate them into schools.
