National Folk Clothing Day to be marked in Moldova

Chisinau, 19 November /MOLDPRES/-The Moldovan parliament today adopted a law that sets up a National Folk Clothing Day in Moldova, due to be celebrated on the last Sunday of every June.
The draft was worked out by the Culture Ministry with the purpose of promoting the Moldovan folk clothing.
“Just like its language, anthem and flag, folk clothing is one nation’s mark. The promotion of the folk costume highlights its beauty and authenticity. The contemporary society is highly interested in folk clothing. Fashion designers all around the world are inspired by folk costumes,” Culture Minister Monica Babuc said.
According to Babuc, folk clothing brings conciliation within the society, as various folk costumes of all the ethnic groups living in Moldova will be presented during this day.
