Moldovan acting PM chairs meeting on parenting education strategy

Chisinau, 20 November /MOLDPRES/-Acting Prime Minister Gheorghe Brega today chaired a meeting of the working group in charge of carrying out a parenting education strategy and an action plan on its implementation, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
During today’s meeting, held in the context of the Universal Children Rights Day, Brega highlighted the importance of the entire society’s active participation in raising and educating children.”We are going through times that are difficult both economically and politically; however, we must take care of our children and protect their rights. If we care about our future, we must pay attention to our children, make sure that they are well fed, well dressed and healthy, and also, make sure that their right to education is observed,” the acting prime minister said.
Participants in the meeting debated and came up with suggestions to improve the draft of the intersectoral strategy on the development of parenting abilities and competencies for 2015-2021. The sides had also examined opportunities to include new experts into the elaboration of the action plan on the implementation of the strategy.
The acting prime minister recommended that experts in charge of children rights’ observance in Moldova implement the best international practices in the field.
Educational parenting programmes focus on parents’ beliefs, attitudes and behaviors and improve them for the benefit of their children’s development.
