Chisinau, 24 November /MOLDPRES/- Following today’s meeting of its National Political Bureau, the Democratic Party (PDM) decided to call on all the parliamentary factions to hold talks on the creation of a new government.
According to PDM leader, Marian Lupu, members of the new government should be politically unaffiliated. Instead of being regulated by the alliance agreement, the new government’s activity will be based on a governing programme voted by the Moldovan parliament.
“Starting with tomorrow, PDM will launch consultations with all the parliamentary factions. We will examine opportunities to create a new parliamentary majority based on the new government, instead of trying to focus on the alliance, which proved to be rather hard now,” Lupu said.
PDM leader said Democrats followed Romania’s example, where two political parties, with different ideologies, joined their efforts to form a new government based on a candidate nominated by Romanian President Klaus Iohannis.
Following the talks held with President Nicolae Timofti, the acting leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Valeriu Strelet said “Liberal-Democrats opt for a politically unaffiliated prime minister, able to help parties reach consensus”.
The government of the Alliance for European Integration III (AIE) headed by former Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet, was dismissed by the vote of Democrat, Communist and Socialist MPs on 29 October. Subsequently, PDM launched negotiations to create a new governing coalition.
