Moldovan deputy premier meets Bucharest-based Finnish ambassador

Chisinau, 24 November /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Deputy Prime Minister Victor Osipov today had a meeting with Bucharest-based Finnish Ambassador to Moldova Paivi Pohjanheimo, the bureau for reintegration has reported.
Victor Osipov welcomed the recent accreditation of Mrs Paivi Pohjanheimo as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Finland to Moldova. He thanked the Finnish government for the support provided Moldova within European institutions, as well as on the bilateral dimension, to press ahead with the reforms and implementing the goals in relations with the European Union.
The deputy prime minister reiterated Moldova's full commitment to enforce the agenda of reforms, with a view of aligning with the European standards.
The officials exchanged opinions on the present stage of the Moldovan-Finnish ties and prospects for bilateral cooperation.
A special subject on the dialogue was focused on Transnistrian settlement issues. Victor osipov said the final goal of Moldova was to identify a viable solution to the Transnistrian conflict, on exclusively peaceful principles, by observing Moldova's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In the context, Osipov referred to the carrying out of the dialogue with the Tiraspol bodies, short- and medium-term prospects, measures to build confidence between the residents from the two banks of Dniester, promoted by the Moldovan government.
As for the sides' working agenda, the deputy prime minister highlighted the results of the Bavarian conference, preparations for a ministerial meetings due in Belgrade and importance to continue the five-plus-two negotiations, without preconditions.
At the end of the meeting, Paivi Pohjanheimo thanked for the substantial dialogue and gave assurances that Finland backed Moldova's European integration and would continue providing the needed assistance to achieve this goal.
