Moldovan, French officials broach regional, international security

Chisinau, 25 November /MOLDPRES/- Acting Deputy Prime Minister Victor Osipov has participated in a meeting of ambassadors of France, accredited to Russia, Belarus and Ukraine, Caucasian countries, as well as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.

The French Embassy in Moldova organized the event in Chisinau. Attending the meeting was also Head of OSCE Mission to Moldova, Ambassador Michael Scanlan.

The French diplomats aimed at collecting facts about the political and economic situation in Moldova, including in the eastern districts and at approaching issues related to regional and international security within a common dialogue.

On this occasion, Osipov welcomed large presence of French representatives in Chisinau and presented a report on the country’s reintegration process. The officials also pointed out Moldova’s efforts streamlined to identify a comprehensive political solution, by observing sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country, which would provide for a special legal status for Transnistrian region.

Osipov assured that the government continued to promote a policy aimed at building confidence between people from both banks of the Dniestre, promoting the dialogue with Tiraspol at all current levels and creating conditions necessary for social and economic development of settlements from the left bank, by observing human rights and freedoms in the region.

In the context, the officials noted the latest evolutions of the bilateral dialogue. Osipov highlighted the importance the state authorities paid to continue negotiations within the five plus two format and to maintain all dialogue platforms between Chisinau and Tiraspol.

Also, Osipov appreciated the important role of OSCE and international partners in Moldova’s reintegration process.

Michael Scanlan delivered a speech on the matter.

At the end, Osipov expressed condolences to the French people on terrorist acts recently occurred in Paris. He assured that Moldova condemned terrorism and took all actions in order to firmly combat it.
