Moldovan, Afghan officials to discuss situation of Moldovan crew captured by Taliban militants

Chisinau, 25 November /MOLDPRES/-The head of Moldova’s Civil Aviation Authority (AAC), Mircea Maleca today will hold an emergency meeting with Afghanistan’s aviation authorities at the headquarters of the International Civil Aviation Organization, in Montreal, Canada, to discuss the situation of the Moldovan helicopter ambushed in Afghanistan, the ACC press service has reported.

Maleca is attending the IWAF 2015 event at the headquarters of the International Civil Aviation Organization these days.  

A helicopter owned by a private Moldovan company involved in humanitarian missions in Afghanistan, was ambushed by Taliban soldiers. There were 21 people on board, including three Moldovan pilots

The Moldovan government created a crisis management department within the Foreign and European Integration Ministry, to be in charge of the situation of the Moldovan crew captured by Taliban militants. The announcement was made by acting Prime Minister Gheorghe Brega, after chairing an emergency meeting of the cabinet on the situation in Afghanistan.

The Foreign and European Integration Ministry instructed the UN Permanent Mission to Moldova to urgently ask the UN peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan for information on the three Moldovan citizens, who were members of the captured helicopter crew.
