Liberal-Democrats insist their conditions be fulfilled before returning to talks on new governing coalition

Chisinau, 25 November /MOLDPRES/-The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) will not participate in consultations with the Democratic Party (PDM) until the latter takes a clear position on PLDM’s previously announced political views, a PLDM press release reads.

“The Liberal-Democrat faction took notice of PDM’s proposal to nominate a politically unaffiliated candidate for the office of prime minister, and ascertained that it is too early to say whether such an attitude is sincere or not, and whether it is truly meant to settle the political crisis and benefit citizens,” the press release states.

PLDM believes all sides participating in talks and political consultations should be on equal terms. Therefore, after joining its vote with the Communists and Socialists to dismiss the government of the Alliance for European Integration (AIE) III, PDM can no longer be part of the parliament’s leadership.

In the same context, PLDM invited parties and MPs unaffiliated to the oligarchic system to voice their views on the solutions proposed to steer the country out of captivity and forward pre-conditions needed to overcome Moldova’s current serious problems.

PLDM leadership had also said their faction would participate in consultations with President Nicolae Timofti; it will also continue its parliamentary activity and implement projects for the citizens’ benefit.
