Chisinau, 25 November /MOLDPRES/- The leader of the Party of Communists (PCRM), Vladimir Voronin, backs an initiative to set up a government composed of a large coalition. Voronin made the statement after the Democratic Party (PDM) had launched talks with all political factions of parliament on creation of an apolitical cabinet.
Voronin said that his party had come up with initiative to create a wide coalition without claiming offices.
“On the day of the government’s dismissal, I proposed to create a wide coalition. We can support the future government without claiming positions. Just as we voted for the Gaburici government, so could we vote for future cabinet as well," he said.
The PCRM leader also said that a solution would be formation of a leftist alliance between PCRM, PDM and Party of Socialists (PSRM), that would provide the needed number of votes to form a new government.
“I propose the second solution too. All three left wing factions: Democrats, Communists and Socialists, have 64 votes. So, we can solve the government problem. We agree from the very beginning that the cabinet members should be professionals. And the problem is settled," he added.
After the meeting of Democrats’ National Political Bureau, PDM leader Marian Lupu said “the PDM faction starting from today will initiate consultations with all political forces. We will analyze possibility to create a parliamentary majority around a new government and not around the alliance, which proves difficult to be created at this moment”.
The government of the Alliance for European Integration III (AIE III), led by Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet, was dismissed on 29 October with the votes of 65 MPs of PDM, PCRM and PSRM. Subsequently, the PDM leadership informed on starting negotiations to create a new ruling coalition.
