Commission for selecting Moldovan top court’s judge on behalf of government votes candidate

Chisinau, 27 November /MOLDPRES/-The members of the commission for selecting a candidate on behalf of the government for the office of judge at the Constitutional Court, gave their unanimous vote for Veaceslav Zaporojan. His candidature for the position of judge at the Constitutional Court is to be approved by the cabinet, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
According to them, Zaporojan, the only candidate who stayed in the race, had a flawless performance during the public interview held today, providing grounded answers to all the questions. Zaporojan had also successfully passed the first two stages of the contest, pre-selection and written test. The commission ascertained that Zaporojan met all the professional and integrity criteria needed to hold the position he had applied for.
The commission is made up of former judges of the Constitutional Court Victor Puscas and Nicolae Osmochescu, Dean of the Faculty of Law at the Moldovan State University Sergiu Baiesu, representatives of civil society, Executive Director of Association for Participatory Democracy Igor Botan, head of press council Ludmila Andronic and legal adviser to the Legal Resources Centre Sorina Macrinici. Deputy Secretary-General of the cabinet Roman Cazan and prime minister’s senior state advisor in justice Sergiu Gurduza have been included in the commission on behalf of the government. Acting Prime Minister Gheorghe Brega is the chairman of the commission.
A total of seven candidates applied for the vacant position of judge at the Constitutional Court on behalf of the government.
