Chisinau, 1 December /MOLDPRES/-Representatives of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) and Liberal Party (PL) today convened in the first round of political consultations to create a parliamentary majority. The meeting took place after the National Political Council of PLDM decided on 30 November that the faction would participate in negotiations on setting up government.

After an hour of discussion, the leader of Liberal Party, Mihai Ghimpu, said that the most important was that the dialogue between the pro-European parties started.

“The Liberal Democrats told us they remain on their stance as regards the earlier set conditions. Although, I believe that a government with politically non-affiliated prime minister and political ministers is a political one. I think that it will be difficult to find a solution to this problem. It is already paramount to follow talks with the other sides and we will discuss in three later”, Ghimpu said.

The acting leader of PLDM, Valeriu Strelet, noted that the faction had reiterated the main goals such as: adoption of a roadmap on taking the institutions out of subordination, formation of a government led by a politically non-affiliated premier, creation of equal conditions for all sides attending the consultations.

“We largely reiterated the proposals and political visions seen in political declaration, we said we can go forward only if all the involved sides will realize that we need changes. We hope that all factions will understand that we need to reset state institutions, as well as to promote the idea of appointment of a politically non-affiliated premier”, Strelet said.

After the National Political Council of PLDM, the party’s members said that the Liberal Democrats would participate in negotiations on creation of a parliamentary majority, and starting from today, would launch invitations for talks and consultations to the parties willing to participate in setting up a majority for government’s investiture.

AIE III government led by Premier Valeriu Strelet was dismissed on 29 October with the vote of 65 lawmakers of Democratic Party, Party of Communists and Party of Socialists. Subsequently, PD leadership announced initiation of negotiations on creation of a new ruling coalition.
