Chisinau, 1 December /MOLDPRES/-Representatives of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) and unaffiliated MPs of the group headed by Iurie Leanca held a round of political consultations today. Subsequently, their leaders said the parties shared the same views on the creation of a parliamentary majority.

After the talks, the head of the European People's Party of Moldova (PPEM), Iurie Leanca said his party and Liberal-Democrats shared the same position; however, they could not agree on a politically unaffiliated prime minister.

“We welcome PLDM’s decision to start these talks after almost five weeks of hesitation. Generally, we share the same view. We listened to Liberal-Democrats’ point of view on the priorities the future government must commit to. We unveiled our opinion as well. We agree with the objectives submitted by PLDM. However, we believe that an apolitical prime minister lacking permanent political support, will fail to achieve efficient results ,” Leanca said.

For his part, PLDM acting leader, Valeriu Strelet noted that he insisted on the nomination of an independent candidate for the position of prime minister.

“A candidate for the position of prime minister was the only thing we could not agree upon during the dialogue with the MPs of Leanca group. However, we believe there are rather good candidates for this position, who did not get involved in politics and who are able to take responsibility in front of the citizens,” Strelet said.

Liberal-Democrats today held a meeting with the leader of the Liberal Party (PL), Mihai Ghimpu as well. The latter said it was very important that pro-European parties had finally started the dialogue.

Strelet will also hold a meeting with the leader of the Democratic Party (PDM), Marian Lupu today.

Following its National Political Council’s yesterday decision to participate in the negotiations on the creation of a parliamentary majority, PLDM initiated talks and consultations with pro-European parties today.
