Chisinau, 1 December /MOLDPRES/-Representatives of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Democratic Party (PDM), Liberal Party (PL) and the European People’s Party of Moldova (PPEM) will hold joint talks on 2 December to tackle the creation of a new parliamentary majority. Statements to this effect were made by PLDM and PDM leaders following the political consultations they held today.
After consultations, PDM leader Marian Lupu said a full-format meeting was the only way to achieve productive talks.
“I voiced PDM’s position during the meeting, according to which the main dialogue should take place without conditions and pre-conditions. In this context, I told PLDM we should start talks with PL and unaffiliated MPs of Leanca group starting with tomorrow. We believe serious and consistent talks are only possible within a full-format meeting,” Lupu said.
For his part, PLDM acting leader Valeriu Strelet said Liberal-Democrats are going to reiterate their previously announced objectives during tomorrow's meeting.
“Democrats did not provide a clear response to the objectives PLDM has made public. We are going to meet in full format and reiterate Liberal-Democrats’ objectives. We hope we will get clear answers tomorrow,” Strelet said.
Following the talks with PLDM, PPEM head Iurie Leanca said his party and Liberal-Democrats shared the same position. However, they had failed to agree on the designation of an apolitical prime minister.
Liberal-Democrats also met PL leader Mihai Ghimpu today. He praised the fact that pro-European parties had succeeded to start the talks.
Following its National Political Council’s decision of 30 November to participate in the negotiations on the creation of a parliamentary majority, PLDM initiated talks and consultations with pro-European parties today.
