Twenty-four Moldovan settlements still disconnected from power supply

Chisinau, 2 December /MOLDPRES/- Another 24 Moldovan settlements continue to be partially disconnected from electricity supply in the aftermath of yesterday’s wind, which had also uprooted 30 trees in Chisinau.
The press officer of the Interior Ministry’s Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service, Diana Turcanu said “villages from Orhei, Straseni, Calarasi, Nisporeni, Anenii Noi, Cimislia, Stefan Voda and Causeni districts remain disconnected from the electricity supply. The electricity provider deployed intervention teams to carry out repairing works in the field to restore the electricity supply”.
For her part, the head of Chisinau mayoralty’s association in charge of managing green areas (Spatii Verzi), Galina Leahu, said “the association’s employees are carrying out works to remove the 30 trees broken down by the wind. Moreover, the association received more requests from the residents of the capital to remove branches fallen on their cars”.
Yesterday’s strong wind had also ripped off slate tiles from the roofs of several buildings. Thus, the roof of a kindergarten from Bravicea village, Calarasi district was hurt and the roof of a gymnasium from Tibirica village, same district, was partially destroyed.
The bad weather caused power outages in more than 110 localities from 14 Moldovan districts on 1 December.
The State Hydro-meteorological Service issued yellow code of strong wind throughout Moldova for today.
