Moldovan parliament rules to continue meeting publicly

Chisinau, 2 December /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament has ruled to continue hearings on fraudulent transactions in the banking system publicly. After Prosecutor General Corneliu Gurin had unveiled his report, the leader of the Liberal Party (PL), Mihai Ghimpu, and the Socialists suggested that the meeting be public. The MPs of the Party of Socialists, Liberal Democratic Party of PL backed the proposal.
The meeting continues with a report by the director of the National Anticorruption Centre, Viorel Chetraru.
The parliament today convened at a special meeting to hear reports on embezzlements from the banking system and measures undertaken by the law enforcement and economic bodies to clear up the situation. Director of the Intelligence and Security Service Mihai Balan, Director of the National Anticorruption Centre Viorel Chetraru, Governor of the National Bank of Moldova Dorin Dragutanu and acting Finance Minister Anatol Arapu will present reports and answer lawmakers' questions at the meeting.
