Moldovan servicemen to attend international missions under EU aegis

Chisinau, 3 December /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan servicemen will participate in international missions and operations held outside Moldova, in accordance with provisions of the UN Charter and international treaties Moldova is party to. The parliament adopted a draft law to this end today.
Under the draft, Moldovan soldiers will be involved in international operations under UN mandate and in civil assistance missions, carried out by or under the mandate of international organisations. The soldiers will be involved into service in line with international requirements for a limited period.
When leaving for the mission, health insurance policies will be processed for servicemen, funded publicly by Moldova. They will also undergo medical examination, no matter the age. Also, the authorities will meet transport costs, payment for renting the job house.
The expenses for hospitalisation and treatment of the staff deployed to the mission, including the same expenses, after coming back to Moldova, if needed as a result of diseases or any other injury brought to the staff health when fulfilling the mission or international operation, which are not covered by the health insurance, and did not occur as a result of an offence committed by the staff, are put in charge of relevant authorities.
Adoption of the law is stipulated in the action plan for implementing the Moldova-EU Association Agreement.
The draft was criticised by the Party of Socialists and Party of Communists, who invoked the neutrality status of Moldova.
