Chisinau, 3 December /MOLDPRES/-The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) will summon its National Political Council to decide whether it will continue to participate in the negotiations on a new parliamentary majority. The decision was taken by the party’s acting leader Valeriu Strelet today, after PLDM held a new round of talks with the Democratic Party (PDM), Liberal Party (PL) and the European People’s Party of Moldova (PPEM).
Strelet said pro-European parties failed to reach an agreement after one hour of talks.
“We have no results so far. We could not agree on the appointment of an apolitical prime minister. We have also failed to agree on the “zero option”, implying that no one will claim to any state positions. Because of that, PLDM is going to summon its National Political Council to decide on our further participation in the talks on the creation of a new parliamentary majority,” Strelet said.
Following the talks, Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu said the talks did not help things move forward. “We did not resolve anything today. PLDM continues to hold onto its old position and lay down conditions. They are going to hold talks within the party. We are looking forward to resuming negotiations and start finding the right way,” Ghimpu said.
For his part, Democrat leader Marian Lupu said the sides had discussed more objectives pro-European parties had proposed in order to create a new government. “We agreed on strategic priorities. However, we encountered difficulties in discussing the functioning model of the future government. We suggested each of the three pro-European parties and the group headed by Iurie Leanca delegate three representatives to participate in the talks until resuming negotiations,” Lupu said.
Following the recent decision of its National Political Council to participate in negotiations on a new parliamentary majority, PLDM initiated talks and consultations with PDM, PL and Leanca group MPs.
