Chisinau, 4 December /MOLDPRES/-The Joint Control Commission (JCC) resumed its activity in Bender city, on 3 December, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
During an extraordinary meeting, the commission approved Major Vadim Lushnikov in the position of Russian military observer and dismissed Colonel Victor Teleshev from the office of Russia’s delegate to JCC and also dismissed Russian military observer, Lieutenant Colonel Dmitrii Gorbani on the completion of his service. The members took notice of the information included in 11 weekly reports on the situation in the Security Zone, unveiled by the Joint Military Commandment.
A press release of the Bureau for Reintegration states that after ten consecutive weeks of talks, Russia had finally agreed to write about Moldova’s refusal to approve Alexei Gaciurin as JCC member delegated by Russia, in the current meeting’s minutes. Thus, sides finalized and completed discussions on this topic. We remind that Gaciurin’s delegation to JCC violated prior coordination procedures provided by the previously agreed mechanisms. Respectively, his status does not comply with the regulation and competencies of the commission.
According to the meeting’s agenda approved on 29 January 2015, the commission was going to approach the main issue of free movement within the Security Zone. The Moldovan delegation to JCC had repeatedly suggested sides take efforts to find a pragmatic solution to this problem and take into account the suggestions submitted by JCC’s co-chairmen, OSCE mission and Ukraine’s representatives. The given proposals sum up the views of all the delegates on this subject and speak out for the need to carry out an impartial monitoring of the situation in the Security Zone. The delegates also believe it is necessary to work out a string of recommendations to ensure the free movement within the perimeter supervised by the peacekeeping forces.
“As usually, the Transnistrian delegation had tried again to divert discussions from the main problem. Thus, Tiraspol’s representatives continue to defy the agreements and engagements made between the co-chairmen of the JCC, according to which both sides commit to overcome obstacles hindering the free movement within the Security Zone,” the press release reads.
Moldova’s delegation to JCC draws the public attention to the fact that the co-chairman of the Transnistrian delegation, O. Beleacov continues to spread erroneous information in the mass media and distort the subjects discussed and decisions taken by the commission.
JCC will hold a new meeting to continue consultations on the free movement issue on 10 December 2015.
