Head of Moldovan diplomacy attends GUAM Foreign Ministers Council

Chisinau, 4 December /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman today participated in the 26th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the member states of the GUAM Organisation for Democracy and Economic Development (including Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova). The event was held within the 22nd meeting of the OSCE Foreign Ministers in Belgrade, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry's information and media communication service has reported.
The participants in the GUAM Council tackled a string of topics on the organisation's work, among which GUAM member states' cooperation within international organisations, development of inter-parliamentary, sectoral and economic collaboration, cooperation with the partner states, in particular, the USA and Japan. At the same time, the heads of diplomacies from the GUAM states agreed on strengthening joint efforts to promote and adopt the UN General Assembly Resolution on Protracted Conflicts in the GUAM Area.
The meeting of the GUAM Foreign Ministers Council was followed by a GUAM-Japan meeting, within which the sides discussed priorities of the cooperation agenda. Thus, the participants reconfirmed interest in further developing the dialogue between GUAM and Japan. Also, the sides signed a new cooperation programme GUAM-Japan, which provides for a more advanced level of cooperation.
The GUAM ministerial meeting adopted a decision on passing the GUAM chairmanship to Azerbaijan in 2016.
