International Financial Corporation to implement three-million-dollar investment climate reform project in Moldova

Chisinau, 4 December /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Economics Ministry Vitalie Iurcu and representatives of the International Financial Corporation today held a meeting to discuss the main aspects of a new investment climate reform project, worth three million dollars, due to be implemented in Moldova in 2016.
According to a press release of the Economics Ministry, the main purpose of the project is to improve the regulation of the entrepreneurial activity, consolidate agricultural entrepreneurs’ access to markets by enhancing and facilitating exports, boosting up the protection level of investments and ensuring gender equality.
To achieve the aforementioned goals, experts will carry out a string of policy analyses, in compliance with the best practices, proposals and solutions to improve the legal framework, remove regulatory barriers and create mechanisms necessary to improve and develop the investment climate.
Iurcu said the goals of the project coincide with the priorities of the Economics Ministry, adding that any external support is welcomed and praised. In this context, the sides agreed to sign a cooperation agreement in 2016.
The main beneficiary of the project is the Economics Ministry along with other nine institutions, and namely, the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry, Finance Ministry, Regional Development and Constructions Ministry, State Chancellery, Customs Service, Competitiveness Council, Moldovan Investment and Export Promotion Organization (MIEPO), National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) and the parliament’s commission for economy, budget and finance.
The total cost of the project stands at 3 million 200 thousand dollars, provided by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) for a two-year term (December 2015- November 2018).
