Chisinau, 9 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) is expecting an answer to the claims filed to the pro-European parties, while the Democratic Party (PDM) declares itself "open for continuing the discussions." Representatives of these parties made statements to this effect today.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, MP Tudor Deliu said that PLDM would not call a meeting of its National Political Council, unless it receives a clear-cut answer on behalf of the pro-European parties.
"At a joint meeting of the PLDM Central Standing Bureau, we decided that there is no ground and prerequisites for calling a meeting of the National Political Council of the party, for reasons that the sides participating in consultations had not clearly and trenchantly set forth their position on the model and conditions for the creation of the future parliamentary majority," Deliu specified.
PDM representatives said they were ready for discussions, and that PLDM just invoked pretexts, so as not to continue consultations with the pro-European parties.
"We have answered clearly all the requirements submitted by the Liberal Democrats. Now, the PLDM MPs find just pretexts. The fact that they do not want to discuss has been proved, thus, they directly block the political consultations. PDM is ready to hold discussions at any time, in order to form a government as soon as possible," lawmaker Sergiu Sirbu said.
A Liberal Party (PL) MP Lilian Carp said "the Liberals are ready to further participate in discussions with content. We expect the PLDM National Political Council to express its stance, after which consultations between the pro-European parties are to continue. We hope that the Liberal Democrats will not come up just with conditions, but will be ready to negotiate," Carp added.
PLDM last week initiated political discussions and consultations with PDM, PL and non-affiliated MPs from the Leanca group, following a decision by the Liberal Democrats' National Political Council. Under this ruling, the Liberal Democrats decided on PLDM's participation in the talks in the creation of a parliamentary majority.
