Chisinau, 9 December /MOLDPRES/- During the meeting of the Supervising Committee for the Sector Reform Contract of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (CSP CRS DCFTA) held on 8 December, Deputy Economics Minister Octavian Calmic said the Economics Ministry had accelerated the implementation process of the DCFTA.

According to the press service of the Economics Ministry, the participants in the meeting discussed the current progress of DCFTA’s implementation in Moldova, results of the internal assessment and monitoring of policy matrix indicators in compliance with the situation of 4 December 2015, as well as a list of actions recommended by the committee’s members, due to be enforced by late December 2015.

Thus, the committee ascertained that since its last meeting in November, the Economics Ministry had succeeded to take a string of important actions needed to boost up the implementation of the DCFTA. Therefore, it promoted the National Strategy on drawing investments and promoting exports and also trained 2,500 business representatives in the DCFTA field.

Calmic emphasized that the ministry had made a string of demarches to the parliament, prime minister, Finance Ministry and other institutions in charge, requesting that the DCFTA implementation be accelerated. “As a result, our colleagues are willing to help. The parliament approved a string of initiatives in first reading, while others are to be examined by the commissions in charge and debated by the MPs. Moreover, the National Institute for Standardization and Metrology continues to align the legislation. We are convinced that we will succeed to implement our agenda by late 2015,” Calmic said.

For his part, the head of the AT ZLSAC project, Philip Santes recommended that the Consumer Protection Agency completes its Institutional Development Plan (PDS) along with the list of necessary equipment and submits them for public consultations as soon as possible. Santes also recommended that the National Food Safety Agency approves its PDS, currently under debates. The official added that financing programmes should be continued. The indicator of export promotion and drawing investments was fully enforced.

The next meeting of the committee is due in January 2016.
