Chisinau, 9 December /MOLDPRES/- Romania consolidated its first position among Moldova’s trade partners. The commercial exchanges between both states reached 1 billion 39 million dollars within nine months.
According to experts, the trade turnover exceeded the 1.23-billion-dollar level recorded in 2014, though data on the last 11 months have not been made public yet.
“Moldovan goods are getting more requested in Romania,” the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau says. Moldovan imports to Romania increased by 7.5 per cent in January-September. The amount of goods Moldova’s breakaway Transnistrian region had exported to Romania reached over 82 million lei, twice more than the volume of the goods exported to Ukraine (42 million dollars) and Russia (39 million dollars).
On 30 September 2015, Moldova ranked fourth on the ranking of Romania’s trade with non-EU states, with a share of 5.31 per cent. It also ranked eighth on the ranking of imports, with a share of 3.28 per cent.
The value and share of Moldova’s trade with Romania improved in the last two years amid the dramatic decrease of its trade with Russia.
In the first three quarters of 2015, there were 4,575 Moldovan-Romanian joint companies recorded in Romania, with a capital of 47.04 million dollars.
