Chisinau, 10 December /MOLDPRES/- Salaries of resident doctors will now be paid from the reserve fund of the National Health Insurance Company. The government approved a regulation on the organisation of residency studies on 9 December. Until now, resident doctors were paid in accordance with the financial resources of the medical institutions they were hired at.
The adviser of the acting health minister, Galina Sanduta, said the regulation on the employment and remuneration of resident doctors is a premiere in Moldova. The document compels managers of hospitals to hire residents, as not all resident doctors had been hired or remunerated till now.
According to Sanduta, resident doctors who signed a work contract with their hospitals will be eligible for remuneration. At present, a resident doctor's salary equals 1,750 lei (80 euros), along with a scholarship allowance. There are 1,321 resident medical students in Moldova so far.
The Moldovan parliament adopted a law on the employment of resident doctors in July 2015.
