Russia has new military attache in Moldova

Chisinau, 10 December /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Defence Minister Anatol Salaru today received a new military attache of Russia in Moldova, colonel Igor Dobvnya. The leadership of the Defence Ministry suspended any relations with the former Russian military attache and demanded his recalling, after he had participated in a military parade in Tiraspol.
At the meeting, in the context of the tense situation in the region, Anatol Salaru asked Russia to observe Moldova's neutrality status and withdraw its troops, deployed illegally on the country's territory. At the same time, the defence minister urged colonel Dobvnya to fulfil his missions of military attache, taking into account the fact that Moldova is a sovereign and independent state.
For his part, the Russian military attache in Moldova assured the Defence Ministry's leadership of a productive cooperation, based on correctness and respect.
The two officials discussed the situation in the Transnistrian region, cooperation between the armies of the two states, as well as international security aspects.
