Moldovan official suggests Turkey transfers investments from Russia to Moldova

Chisinau, 11 December /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister, acting Economics Minister Stephane Bride held a meeting with Turkish Ambassador to Moldova Mehmet Selim Kartal today. Bride said Moldova could be a good platform for Turkey to deploy the production units of its companies from Russia, along with all the available facilities offered by Free Trade Zones and Industrial Parks.
The officials focused on the need to boost up Moldovan-Turkish commercial-economic ties, touching upon joint investment opportunities. They also discussed the condition of Turkish-Russian ties and the impact of the restrictions due to be imposed on 1 January 2016.
The Turkish ambassador welcomed Bride’s initiative, noting that Turkey is open for any constructive dialogue. He added that a Moldovan-Turkish business forum would be organised on 22 January 2016, emphasizing that it will serve as an opportune framework for both countries to connect their business environments and develop joint projects.
According to data of the Economics Ministry, Moldovan-Turkish commercial exchanges reached 261.9 million dollars in January-September 2015, 13.5 per cent less against the same period in 2014. Based on the trade turnover recorded in the given period, Turkey ranks sixth among Moldova’s commercial partners.
