Chisinau, 13 December /MOLDPRES/ - The National Political Council of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) on 13 December ruled to participate in negotiations on the creation of a parliamentary majority. At the same time, PLDM will maintain the previously announced goals on the resetting of the political system.

The acting leader of the Liberal Democrats, Valeriu Strelet, has made statements to this effect.

''The PLDM National Political Council expresses deep concern about the social and political situation in Moldova after the resignation of the government on 29 October and informs about its involvement in political negotiations. At the same time, the party reiterates the previously announced goals and namely getting the institutions out of party subordination, creation of a government led by a non-affiliated prime minister, resetting of the government and creation of equal conditions for the sides participating in consultations,'' Strelet  said.

The PLDM interim leader also said that a meeting with the Democratic Party (PDM), Liberal Party (PL) and European People's Party of Moldova (PPEM) would take place in a short time.

''Today we will ask the pro-European parties to meet in a short time to inform them about the decisions passed by the PLDM National Political Council. During the discussions, we will do our utmost to find a compromise in setting up a parliamentary majority as soon as possible,'' Strelet added.

On 3 December, after a round of negotiations with the pro-European parties, the PLDM interim leader, Valeriu Strelet, said the discussions with PDM, PL and PPEM had yielded no results. Thus, the Liberal Democrats were to call a meeting of the National Political Council, to decide whether PLDM will continue the discussions on the creation of a parliamentary majority.
