Chisinau, 13 December /MOLDPRES/ - Andrei Nastase has become the new leader of a newly created Dignity and Truth Party. The decision was announced by the party’s leader after a congress of the People's Force party, held on 13 December.
According to organizers, attending the event were several hundreds of delegates. They took more decisions on the party’s leadership, as well as appointment of a new party leader.
“I am sure that I will cope with this office, with I have received with honor on behalf of all those who came to the congress of our party. Also today, the formation changed its name into Dignity and Truth Platform Party. Subsequently, we will take a decision on electing the deputy leaders of the party”, Nastase said.
“We also ruled that our immediate goals should be implementation of people's claims voted on the Great National Assembly Square on 6 September. At the same time, we informed that the Dignity and Truth Platform will remain civic and will put pressure on governance, unless our claims are fulfilled," he added.
The People's Force party was set up in 2013. It has about 6,000 members. So far, the party has been led by political pundit, ex-ambassador of Moldova to the USA Nicolae Chirtoaca.
“I have not left the party, I remain in the collegial management body of the party. Now, an alloy was created between the party and the more politicized part of the platform. We have many common goals. If your read our formation's programme, you will see that there is full coincidence between the goals set by us and the Dignity and Truth Platform,” Chirtoaca said.
On 11 December, the Dignity and Truth Platform representatives said they would join the People's Force party. They said the decision was taken after the current government during three months had failed to fulfil any claims submitted by protesters on the Great National Assembly Square.
