Chisinau, 16 December /MOLDPRES/-In the beginning of the cabinet meeting today, acting Prime Minister Gheorghe Brega required that the Health Ministry unveils information on the unclear death of a seven-year old child from Cahul district, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

Acting Deputy Health Minister Gheorghe Turcanu said the ministry had created a special commission in charge of clearing up the causes of the death. According to preliminary investigations, the death was caused by a hepatorenal failure and hepatic necrosis. Turcanu added that the forensic examination will be completed within two weeks, and subsequently, the ministry will come up with a final report on the causes of the death.

The acting prime minister asked that the ministry thoroughly examines all the circumstances of the case, starting with the patient’s first visit to the doctor.

The National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) took notice of the case as well. Its acting head, Grigore Porcescu said the case did not represent a toxic infection. According to him, a string of tests on food risks had been carried out in this sense, in particular for cucumbers, and the results show that parameters do not exceed the norms.

In the same context, Porcescu noted that ANSA is paying unannounced visits in the eve of winter holidays, to markets, warehouses and leisure places  to examine if these meet the general and specific requirements for storing food products.
