Chisinau, 17 December /MOLDPRES/-The Border Police and the leadership of the Customs Service announced today that they would take necessary measures to facilitate traffic at the state border during winter holidays on 16 December 2015-16 January 2016.
According to the Customs Service, this week authorities started to simplify control procedures in order to avoid agglomeration at customs points and supplemented the number of customs officers. Vehicles will be redirected to other control runways, if the influx of transport units is too high. Border police officers took similar actions.
Authorities will also increase the number of mobile teams in charge of monitoring the border. They will also enhance cooperation with the subdivisions of the Interior Ministry, local public administration bodies and neighboring customs points in order to prevent and combat cross-border crime.
In this context, the institutions in charge recommend that citizens access the web page in order to monitor the situation at border cross points in real time.
Statistics of the Customs Service show that almost 190 thousand vehicles crossed the border during the last winter holidays between 16 December 2015 and 16 January 2015.
