Chisinau, 17 December /MOLDPRES/- A recycling plant for all types of waste was launched in Moldova, Chisinau, for the first time ever. The announcement was made during a news conference today by representatives of the “MoldRec” association and the Environment Ministry.
The head of the “MoldRec” association, Iulian Gamureac said the plant is part of the “Recycling Guards” ecologic project, being a new stage in the selective waste collecting campaign. “The enterprise will have a production capacity of more than ten tons per day. The recycling's final products like liquid carbon, synthetic diesel, wire with a higher degree of hardness, and others, will return into the economic cycle,” Gamureac said.
Experts will test the plant’s equipment for the rest of the week. The plant will enter its ordinary work schedule on 21 December. “We hold a waste permit that allows us to recycle all types of waste, except for the radioactive, toxic and medical one. Therefore, we urge all Moldovan economic agents to dispose of their waste eco-rationally,” Gamureac said.
For his part, the senior inspector of the Environment Ministry’s Chisinau Ecological Agency, Ion Bulimaga, voiced hope that similar plants will be opened soon. “It is a positive thing, as it helps diminish the negative impact on the environment. Following the testing, we ascertained that the plant is not a source of emissions into the atmosphere,” Bulimaga said.
The “Recycling Guards” project was launched in June 2015 by the “MoldRec” association in cooperation with more national and international partners. An amount of 50 waste collecting points had already been installed within the project. Collected waste will serve as raw material for the plant. To ensure its functioning, “MoldRec” will be in charge of the waste collection and management. The financial investment is made by an economic agent.
